International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated annually on March 8th to recognize the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of all women (UN Women, 2021).

Hoobiyee is when the Nisga’a Nation marks a new season of harvest beginning with the arrival of saak, a breed of oolichan fish that is a staple of the traditional Nisga’a diet.

The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women
On December 6th we commemorate the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. We remember 14 women who were murdered while attending a mechanical engineering class at the École Polytechnique in Montreal.
