Description

Participants will work in small groups aligned with their roles, such as educators, clinicians, communicators, or leaders, to apply values-based messaging principles to real-world scenarios. Each group will craft a range of messages in response to pre-defined scenarios. Through a series of exercises across the two sessions, they will refine their communications based on feedback from the facilitator and their peers.

By the end of the workshop, participants will feel more confident using values-based messaging and better prepared to incorporate these approaches into future communications. The sessions are designed to deepen learning and provide practical, hands-on experience that can be applied directly to day-to-day work.

This Master Class is especially relevant if you are:

  • A leader sending a message to your community during a difficult or polarized time—seeking to prevent division and keep people working toward a shared goal.
  • A faculty member facilitating a challenging classroom discussion on equity, Indigenous health, or systemic injustice.
  • A communicator drafting a website update or institutional announcement on sensitive issues.
  • A clinical faculty member delivering feedback to residents in a way that resonates and motivates growth.
  • A leader or speaker offering opening remarks or framing a land acknowledgement—and wanting to do so in a way that is authentic, engaging, and meaningful rather than perfunctory or formulaic.
